Men's Ice Hockey Rolls Past King's (Pa.), 9-0

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. -- The Elmira College men's ice hockey team got back to its winning ways on Friday evening, as the Soaring Eagles romped to a 9-0 win over United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) foe King's College (Pa.) at the Murray Athletic Center on Friday evening.

Elmira's (11-4-1, 7-3-0 UCHC) offense was humming all evening and dominated the Monarchs (2-14-0, 1-9-0 UCHC) to the tune of a 52-to-12 advantage in shots. Seven different skaters found the back of the net for the Purple and Gold led by Connor Powell '20 and Nick Ford '20, who potted two goals apiece.

Powell tacked on a pair of assists to bring his point total to a team-high-tying four. Matthew Cousino '22 joined Powell with four points, all of which came on assists. Nick Ford '20 produced his fourth multi-point outing of the season with a power-play goal and two assists.

Five skaters produced two points for the Soaring Eagles, highlighted by rookie Tommy Donnelly '23, who scored his first collegiate goal and added an assist. Rounding out EC's multi-point scorers were Spencer MacLean '20 (1g-1a), Anthony Parrucci '20 (1g-1a) and Matthew Cuce '20 (2a).

Kale Kane '21 and Harry Kramer '20 were each responsible for goals, as the former scored his fifth of the year, while the latter netted his third. In addition to Kane and Kramer, Spencer Carter '20, Alex Gagnon '23, Nick Grinvalds '22, Marty Kapoian '22 and Jake Russo '23 all were credited with assists to etch their names on the scoresheet.

In goal, third-year netminder Ben Fleischman '21 got the starting nod and did not disappoint. The Red Hook, New York, native secured his first-career victory while making 12 saves to seal the shutout.
