Alfred Downs Men's Basketball in E8 Action

ALFRED, N.Y. -- Freshman David Kruis '23 paced the Elmira College men's basketball team with 13 points and sophomore Rashaad Nurse '22 finished one rebound shy of a double-double in Friday night's 72-55 loss at Alfred University.

In just 16 minutes off the bench, Kruis netted a career-high 13 points. Nine of his points came from 3-point range, as the Midland Park, New Jersey, native finished 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. It was the third time the rookie reached double figures this season, while his trio of treys marked a new single-game season-high.

Nurse was Elmira's other double-digit scorer, as the second-year forward from Queens, New York, posted 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting. He also collected a team-high nine boards, one rebound shy of his fourth double-double of the year.

Also off the bench, senior guard Jesse Adelson '20 added nine points for the Purple and Gold. He went 4-for-5 from the foul line, while adding four rebounds and two assists.

As a team, EC shot 26.4% (19-of-72) overall and 25.0% (5-of-20) from 3-point range. The Saxons were led by Sam Dagon and Cole Eells with 24 and 20 points, respectively, while shooting at the 34.0% clip (17-of-50). Alfred benefited greatly from the charity stripe, as the hosts were 33-of-44 (75.0%) from the foul line.
