ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Elmira Women's Volleyball dropped both ends of their home invitational on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Cardinals from St. John Fisher in straight sets before repeating the nightcap against Misericordia.
GAME ONE:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cardinals got the betterment of the Soaring Eagles for the majority of the match, outhitting the host .293% to -.050% on the day on their way to a 3-0 win (25-13, 25-14, 25-12). The Soaring Eagles were led by
Amelia Martin '23, who contributed 4 kills to her line score while
Kaylene Sauschuck '22 and
Maddie Boucher '24 each added three.
Martin also added 11 digs while
Maddie Hampton '24 tallied eight of her own. In total, the Soaring Eagles recorded 13 kills, 12 assists, and 33 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars defeated the Soaring Eagles in straight sets (25-10, 25-23, 25-19) while controlling the statistical advantage in kills, service aces, blocks, assists, and digs.
After dropping the first set, the Soaring Eagles put together a valiant effort in the second, but came up on the wrong end after the Cougars scored the final three points to take the quick 2-0 advantage.
In the third, the Purple & Gold held a 12-10 advantage before MU went on to score seven of the next eight points, and twelve of the next fourteen.
Boucher led the way with six kills while Sprague and Martin each chipped in four a piece. Curkendall added 15 assists while
Amelia Martin recorded 12 digs.
