OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Elmira College Men's Basketball team opened the 2021-22 season with a 85-51 loss at the hands of the Lakers from Oswego State on Friday night.
Bryan Adams '25 paced Elmira on the offensive end, scoring 18 points in his collegiate debut.

HOW IT HAPPENED :
The Soaring Eagles struggled from the field in the opening half after shooting just 20.7% (6-of-29) compared to 47.1% for the Lakers. Adams scored eight of the first nine points for the Soaring Eagles who found themselves trailing 27-7 at the midway point in the first half and finished the half with 13 of Elmira's first half points.
After going 0-for-10 from beyond the arc to begin the game,
Rashaad Nurse '22 got the scoring started with 6:14 remaining in the first half after an assist from Adams found Nurse open beyond the top of the arc.
Elmira headed into the break trailing 42-19 while as a team were outrebounded 27-18. In addition, the Lakers received 23 points from the bench in the opening frame, compared to zero for the Soaring Eagles.
The second half scoring for the Soaring Eagles became a bit more distributed as

Dylan Jacob '24, and
Marc Anthony Artuz '24 (5) all contributed to the ledger.
Both teams increased their shooting percentage from the floor in the second as Elmira shot just a tick under 38.0% in the closing frame. Despite the distribution, the Lakers defensive efficiency helped their cause as they outscored the Purple & Gold 43-32 in the second half.
