PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – The Elmira College Men's Ice Hockey skated to a 10-0 win over the Dutchmen from Lebanon Valley on Friday evening as EC celebrated the Teddy Bear Toss.
Jeffrey Zero '23 lived up to his last name, posting the first shutout of his career in net while
Shawn Kennedy '24 posted four goals, a career-best. In all, the Soaring Eagles posted ten goals and 15 assists, a season-high in both categories.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagle faithful has to wait just 5:28 to throw their teddy bears onto the ice as
Janis Vizbelis '24 got the scoring started on assists from
Shane Haviland '24 and
Amedeo Mastrangeli '24. The goal would go down as the game-winner as Zero finished the evening posting a perfect 23 saves in the same number of opportunities.
In the first period, the Soaring Eagles would post 22 shot, with four finding the back of the net against Dutchmen goalkeeper Aidan Richardson. After
Nathan Young '25 scored on an assist from
Ryan Reifler '24 in the 12
th minute for the first goal of his career, Reifler would find the back of the net at the 13:59 mark just minutes before
Chance Gorman '24 recorded his second point of the evening on a goal at the 16:00 mark.
Jared Smith '24 recorded assists on each of the last two goals as EC carried a 4-0 lead into the break.
In the second, the Soaring Eagles extended their lead to five as Kennedy scored his first of the night on assists from Vizbelis and
Nicholas Domitrovic '24.
Adam Eby, Young, and Kennedy would conclude the scoring and give Elmira a 8-0 lead headed into the third intermission, with each of the goals being scored short-handed.
The third period belonged to Kennedy, who scored his third and fourth goals of the evening at the 6:42 and 16:33 marks, respectively as EC hit the double-digit scoring margin for the first time this season.
