MORRISVILLE, N.Y. -- Despite outshooting host SUNY Morrisville 12 to 9, the Elmira College men's soccer team fell 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon to the Mustangs. The Soaring Eagles had seven shots on target to Morrisville's six while also holding the advantage in corner kicks, 5-2, but could not find a goal in the match. In the 84th minute, EC surrendered a penalty shot and Morrisville converted what would be the game-winning goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Purple & Gold came out in the match with a strong first-half showing as they won three corner kicks and created seven shots with five of them coming on target. It was a balanced effort for Elmira as five different players forced the Morrisville goalkeeper into action.

The host Mustangs were more organized in the second half, as they created more shots and an equal amount of corners. With just under six minutes to go in the contest, Morrisville won a corner kick and EC was called for a foul inside the 18-yard box, awarding the Mustangs with a penalty kick. Sophomore Mohamed Sy took the shot and buried it to give the hosts a 1-0 lead which they would hold onto for the remaining five minutes.
