PINE VALLEY, N.Y. –
Sydney Harris '21 scored a pair of goals for the third-ranked Elmira College women's ice hockey program as the Soaring Eagles pushed their winning streak to six with a 4-1 victory against UMass Boston on Friday night in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action at the Murray Athletic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Harris opened the scoring for the Purple & Gold as she found the back of the net at the 10:36 mark of the first period. Harris beat UMass Boston netminder Victoria Kennedy after taking a feed from
Elizabeth LePage '25.
Claire Meeder '23 also assisted on Harris' second career goal for Elmira.
The Beacons would knot the score early in the second period as Katie Leffler slid the puck past Elmira goalkeeper
Leonie-Louise Kuehberger '25 after a battle in front of the net at the 2:03 mark. Ana Gustafson was credited with the assist on Leffler's goal for UMass Boston.
Elmira needed just 40 seconds to retake the lead as Harris tallied her second goal of the night after lighting the lamp from the far face-off circle to make it 2-1. Meeder added some late insurance in the period for the Purple & Gold as her goal at the 19:15 mark made it 3-1. Meeder would beat Kennedy with a nice move after taking a pass from
Jenny Heath '22.
UMass Boston looked to capitalize in the third period after Elmira was called for a pair of penalties that gave the Beacons a 5-on-3 power-play opportunity. Kuehberger and the Soaring Eagles would stand tall by killing off both penalties. EC netted its sixth short-handed goal of the season at the 14:29 mark as
Emma Crocker '21 found the back of the net for the ninth time this season.
The Soaring Eagles finished 5-for-5 on the penalty kill while Kuehberger stopped 26 of the 27 shots that she faced in the contest to improve to 12-2-1 on the season. Meeder finished with a goal and one assist while returning to the point column for Elmira after having her four-game point streak snapped against Nazareth.

The Soaring Eagles return to the ice on Saturday for an NEHC matchup against Johnson & Wales. The game will take place at First Arena with puck drop scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
