ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College Men's Basketball team dropped the back end of the Elmira College Alumni Classic on Saturday evening, falling to the visiting Wildcats from Cazenovia College 77-64. The Wildcats, who used a 10-of-30 effort from beyond the arc, were able to outshoot the Soaring Eagles in the victory along with winning the turnover battle.
David Aysho '26 paced Elmira on the offensive end with 17 points, while
Quintel Clements '22 picked up his first double-double of the season after posting a 13-point, 10-rebound effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elmira would score the first five points of the evening off the hands of Clements and Aysho before a 9-2 run from the Wildcats gave the visitors an early 9-7 lead. From there, the Soaring Eagles would regain the lead at 18-17 before Cazenovia used a 14-2 run which increased its lead to 12.
From there, the Soaring Eagles and Wildcats would battle back and forth over the final two minutes of play, with the away team carrying a 35-25 lead into the break. In the half, the Wildcats would shoot 37.5% from the floor compared to 30.3% for the Soaring Eagles, who converted on ten of its 33 shots in the period.
In the second, the Wildcats would increase its lead to as many as 15 before
Riley Spencer '26 scored eight consecutive points, including a pair of shots from deep to cut the Soaring Eagle deficit to just seven. Over the final seven minutes of play, the Wildcats would return to its shooting ways from the early part of the frame and go on to win by a final score of 77-64.
For the game, the Soaring Eagles would shoot 40.6% from the floor, converting on 26-of-64 shots while the Wildcats posted a 28-of-65 effort for a percentage of 48.5%.
