COLLEGEVILLE, PA. – Ursinus College would be victorious in four contested bouts as the Elmira College men's wrestling program would come up short against the Bears 48-0 on Sunday afternoon inside Helfferich Hall. The Soaring Eagles will return to action on January 7, 2023.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Bears opened the match with a pair of victories via forfeit at 125 and 133 pounds to take a 12-0 lead against the Purple & Gold before the first contested bout would be held at 141 pounds. Elmira's
Selvin Maldonado '25 would square off against Ursinus' Wesley Tosto at 141 pounds with Tosto recording a 6-0 decision to earn three points for the Bears.
Hollis Berry '25 would take to the mat for Elmira to face the Bears' Dante Monaco at 157 pounds following a forfeit at 149 pounds. Berry would notch a pair of early points against Monaco in the bout before his counterpart surged ahead with time running down in the first period. Monaco would hold on to record a 7-4 decision and the win for Ursinus over Berry.
The 184-pound bout would see Elmira's
Bryan Stafford '26 face Ursinus' Connor Fritsch. Stafford looked to have a couple of opportunities late in the first and second periods to tally points against Fritsch but would be unable to do so. Stafford would eventually drop a 6-3 decision against Fritsch at 184 pounds.
Darius Green '24 would close the match wrestling at 285 pounds for the Purple & Gold. Green would take a shot in the first period looking for a spin and a pin against his opponent but would be unable to come away with any points. Ursinus' Jake Ahmad wrestled a methodical bout against Green and would not allow a point in a 7-0 decision to secure the victory for the Bears.
