DALLAS, Pa. – The Elmira College men's volleyball split its Saturday afternoon slate in Dallas, Pennsylvania. After taking the opening match against Misericordia in straight sets, Marymount defended its eight-game winning streak to take the match 3-0 against the Soaring Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagles cruised to a straight-sets victory against Misericordia as they combined to hit .313 in the match. After taking the first set 25-20, the Soaring Eagles played its last two sets in closer fashion, defeating the Cougars 25-21 and 25-23 to close out the match.
After trailing 11-10 in the opening set, Elmira used four straight points on a pair of errors from the Cougars, as well as kills from
Jordan Peiser '24 and
Edwin Sosa '25 to retake the lead at 14-11. From there, the teams would exchange points before EC closed out the set on a kill from
Alberto Mauricio '25.
The second set saw Elmira fend off a 5-0 run from the Cougars which cut the Elmira lead to 18-16 in the set. From there, the Soaring Eagles would score four straight on a pair of kills from Mauricio before
Alex Adelman '22 notched a service ace to extend the lead to 22-16.
Elmira closed out the set on a kill from
Ryan Mattes '23 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Soaring Eagles saw its closest margin of victory in the third set. After leading 22-16, Misericordia scored four straight to narrow the margin for the Purple & Gold at 22-2- before Mattes closes out the match with a kill.

RECORDS: Elmira (8-4, 0-0 UVC), Marymount (9-0, 0-0 CVC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elmira was able to hit just .197% in the match compared to .382% for the Saints, who escaped the match with wins in straight sets. Despite the 3-0 advantage, the Saints were dealt a strong effort from the Soaring Eagles, who fell 25-20, 25-19, and 25-22.
For the match,
Oscar Munoz Trinidad '23 recorded 11 kills, while Mauricio (8) and Peiser (4) combined for 12 additional kills.
Neiram Galan-Canales '23 finished the match with 15 assists.

Elmira returns home next Saturday when it hosts Hilbert, Medaille, and Sage in a quad match. The Soaring Eagles will take on Hilbert at 12:00 PM before taking on Medaille at 2:00 PM.
