CORNING, N.Y. – The Elmira College baseball program battled the elements as well as Cazenovia College on Friday afternoon on the campus of Corning Community College. The visiting Wildcats recorded a pair of victories to sweep the doubleheader against the Soaring Eagles.

KEY MOMENT:
Elmira scored three runs in the fourth inning of game one with run-scoring hits from Collin McLaughlin '22,
Mason Ryan '22, and
Myles Littlejohn '24.
Michael Millross '24 gave the Purple & Gold four scoreless innings of relief in game one.
Ryan went 3-for-4 at the plate in game one with one run batted in.
Jarod Signorelli '23 finished 2-for-3 with one RBI to pace Elmira in game two.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Cazenovia plated three runs in the first inning to open game one against the Soaring Eagles. Elmira countered with a run in the bottom of the frame as Littlejohn delivered a sacrifice fly that would allow
Matteo Salvati '25 to score to trim the deficit to 3-1.
The Wildcats would add to their lead by scoring six runs in the third inning as four singles would help account for the offense in the frame. EC would plate a run in the bottom of the frame as
Jourdan Plaisted '21 singled through the right side to score Signorelli to make it 9-2.
The Purple & Gold looked to rally against Cazenovia in the bottom of the fourth inning as McLaughlin trimmed the deficit with a single that scored Signorelli to make it 9-3. Ryan and Littlejohn each followed in the frame with run-scoring singles that cut the gap to 9-5.
Millross kept the Cazenovia offense off of the scoreboard the rest of the way as he yielded just one hit while recording three strikeouts through four innings of work on the mound. Rainville and Wing combined to keep the EC offense in check out of the bullpen for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats mirrored their start from game one in the second contest by plating three runs in the top of the first inning. Cazenovia added to its lead in the second following a sacrifice fly to left field that made it 4-0.
Elmira produced a run in the bottom of the second inning as Signorelli delivered a ground-rule double that scored
Brett Warden '25 to make it 4-1. The Purple & Gold later manufactured a run in the bottom of the fourth inning as Ryan would be hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to trim the deficit to 4-2.
Cazenovia closed the scoring with a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to make it 5-2. The Soaring Eagles looked to break through several times on offense as EC left the bases loaded in the second, fourth, and seventh inning.
STATS:
Five Soaring Eagles finished with multi-hit performances in game one.
Millross retired 14 of the 15 batters that he faced in relief for Elmira in game one.
Signorelli finished the day 4-for-6 at the plate with one RBI and one run scored for Elmira.
Littlejohn went 4-for-6 for the Soaring Eagles with two RBI and one walk.
Elmira stranded 26 runners on base between the two contests including 14 in game two.
Kyle Tubbs '22 and
David Kruis '23 worked scoreless outings in relief for EC, while
Carter Wisely '25 made his debut on the mound for the Soaring Eagles.
