PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Battling both the elements and the Cardinals, the Elmira College baseball program dropped a pair of Empire 8 Conference games against St. John Fisher on Friday at Dugan Yard, 20-1 and 16-2.

Jourdan Plaisted '21 scored in the second inning of game one following a throwing error by the Cardinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cardinals plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning to open the scoring while
Angus Adams '22 recorded a strikeout to work out of any further damage for Elmira.
Plaisted opened the second inning with a single through the right side of the infield before Lees singled to left field with two outs to keep the inning alive. The Purple & Gold plated a run to make it 3-1 as Money reached on a throwing error by the pitcher to allow Plaisted to score.
St. John Fisher would tally seven runs against the Soaring Eagles in the bottom of the third inning to extend its lead to 10-1 before seeing Elmira hand things over to the bullpen. The Cardinals plated six runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth inning before the game would be called early due to heavy rain in the area.
Following a short delay between games, St. John Fisher delivered its second first-inning home run of the day to take a quick 2-0 lead against Elmira.
Justin Hyde '25 responded on the mound for EC by recording three consecutive outs to work out of the jam after allowing the home run.
The Soaring Eagles rallied to knot the score in the top of the second inning as Lees worked his way on base with a two-out walk.
Luke Frontale '22 followed with a single to put a pair of runners on base while Money put EC on the scoreboard with a single to center field that scored Lees. Elmira tied the score 2-2 as a dropped fly ball allowed Frontale to score from second base.
The Cardinals would retake the lead with a five-run bottom of the third inning and another five-run frame in the fourth. Out of the bullpen for the Purple & Gold, Pizzullo scattered three hits and a pair of unearned runs through 1.2 innings of relief. Pizzullo also recorded a pair of strikeouts for Elmira on the mound.
STATS:
Morrone recorded a double for his lone hit in game one for the Soaring Eagles, while
Colin McLaughlin '22 worked a walk out of the leadoff spot for EC.
Frontale finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored in game two for Elmira.
