HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagles wasted little time and sent eight to the plate in the bottom of the first inning, plating a pair of runs on two hits, while working a pair of hit batsmen and a walk.

Amelia Martin '23 brought home the games' opening run after singling home Kaitlyn Belmont '24, who doubled earlier in the inning. From there, Alex Brockhuizen '22 would be hit with the bases loaded to score Martin, the eventually game-winning run.

In the third inning, after Jill Cortez '23 reached base safely and advanced to second on an error from the left fielder, Katie Distefano '24 drove home Cortez in the next at-bat to extend Elmira's lead to 3-0. The lone run of the contest scored by SUNY Poly came in the 6th inning with two outs as Trinity Critelli singled home a run.

Sobel was able to cruise on the mound for the third win of her collegiate career, tossing 6.0 innings of one-run ball where she induced ten ground balls to outs, while recording just three in the air.

Ally Barr '21 came on to record the save, the first of her Soaring Eagle career and the third of her collegiate career after recording a pair for Houghton in 2018. After allowing the first two runners into scoring position on hits, Barr was able to strikeout three in a row to conclude the game and send Elmira away with a 3-1 victory.

In game two, the Wildcats were able to crack the scoreboard in the first inning after Aaerin Hamm singled home a run against Elmira starting pitcher Jill Cortez. The Soaring Eagles were able to knot the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning on a two-out rally in which DeAmelia recorded her first hit of the day, an RBI single to centerfield which brought home Destefano.

The Wildcats answered with two runs in the top of the third, scoring a pair of runs on two hits to reclaim the lead at 3-1. In the bottom half of the inning, Martin singled home Alex Brockhuizen, who singled to begin the inning. Heading into the fourth, Elmira trailed 3-2.

From there, SUNY Poly would score its final run of the game in the fourth on an RBI single which increased the lead to 4-2.
