ALBANY, N.Y. -- The first Empire 8 conference game of the season ended in a 2-0 loss for the Elmira College women's soccer team at Sage on Saturday afternoon. EC goalkeeper
Nevaeh Winston '24 faced eight shots and goal, saving six.
JUST THE BASICS:
SCORE: Elmira 0, Sage 2
LOCATION: Albany, N.Y.
TEAM RECORDS: Elmira (2-4, 0-1 E8), Sage (2-2-1, 1-0 E8)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elmira tested the Gators early as sophomore
Kylie Lumley '24 put a shot on goal just six minutes into play but were unable to create any more opportunities for themselves in the half. In the 27th minute Sage would take the lead on a goal by Amelia Geesler, assisted by Natalie Ricci.
In the second half, the Gators wasted no time extending that lead to 2-0, scoring a goal in the first two minutes. This time it was Ricci who found the back of the net. With seven minutes left in the game, the Purple & Gold looked to break through when freshman
Faith Ingber '26 found space for a shot but it sailed wide left.
UP NEXT:
EC is back on the road again Wednesday, September 21 against the Pitt-Bradford Panthers. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
