ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. –
Darius Green '24 wrestled his way to the heavyweight semifinals before competing in the third-place match for the Elmira College men's wrestling program at the Blue Jay Classic on Saturday. The Soaring Eagles finished ninth overall in the team standings on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Green would notch a fourth-place finish for the Soaring Eagles at heavyweight after advancing to the third-place bout against Caleb Burkhart from Wilkes. Burkhart would take third for Wilkes with a pin of Green at the 4:36 mark of the bout.
- Green recorded a fall over Christian Gillich from Scranton to open his day and followed with another victory via fall against Roman Jellick from Cortland in the quarterfinals. After dropping his semifinal bout, Green recorded a victory via criteria against Kurt Driscoll from Elizabethtown.
- Hollis Berry '25 notched a pair of victories on the day for the Soaring Eagles at 157 pounds. Berry recorded a fall in the championship second round before dropping his quarterfinal bout to move into the consolation bracket.
- In the consolation fourth round, Berry picked up a 13-5 major decision victory to advance to the fifth round of action. Hunter Hughes from Cortland would pin Berry at the 3:19 mark of the bout to bring an end to his tournament run for the Soaring Eagles.
- In his first tournament action of the season, Selvin Maldonado '25 dropped his opening bout to move into the consolation bracket. Following a bye into the consolation second round, Maldonado picked up a victory via fall against his teammate Patrick Stauring '27.
- Maldonado matched up against Owen Cherry from Roanoke College in the consolation third round and would be pinned by Cherry at the 2:01 mark to bring his tournament run to an end.
- The Soaring Eagles would also get a victory from Kahajen Smith '25 at 197 pounds as Smith picked up a medical forfeit victory in the consolation fourth round. The tournament run for Smith would come to an end in the consolation fifth round following a pin by Nero Bono from Keystone at the 5:24 mark.
