HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Elmira women's soccer opened up conference play with a trip to Houghton on Saturday. After being locked in a scoreless duel for most of the game, Houghton found the winner in the 89th minute. This was one of Houghton's 12 shots on goal, compared to just one for Elmira in the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Despite 11 shots with seven on goal for the Highlanders in the first half, Elmira went into the break scoreless thanks to seven saves by keeper Nevaeh Winston '25.
- Elmira had three shots in the first half, one being on target thanks to an effort by Tierney Krawczyk '27, who finished the half with two shots. EC's other shot in the half came from Ally Stilo '26.
- The second half saw more of the same, with Houghton taking eight shots with four on target. However, the game remained scoreless thanks to Winston's 11 saves on the day.
- In the match's waning moments, Houghton found a breakthrough with a goal with just over one minute left, all but sealing the victory.
- Elmira finished the second half unable to register a shot, ending the day with three shots to one on target.
