GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Elmira College men's wrestling program finished 10th out of 20 programs on Saturday at the New York State Collegiate Championships on the campus of Nassau County Community College as
Hollis Berry '25 finished fifth at 157 pounds for the Soaring Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Berry would open his day with a bye into the quarterfinals at 157 pounds for the Soaring Eagles and would be matched up against Max Yahre from Oneonta. Yahre would advance through the championship bracket following a 9-6 decision against Berry.
- A pin in the consolation second round for Berry propelled him to the consolation semifinals as he would notch a 14-12 decision in a high-scoring bout against Austin Manning from Merchant Marine. Berry then delivered a 27-13 major decision victory in the fifth-place match against Edwin Claros to secure his podium finish for the Purple & Gold.
- Darius Green '24 recorded a pair of consolation round victories for the Soaring Eagles after dropping his opening bout of the tournament. Green recorded a pin against NYU's Bennett Sonneborn before securing a medical forfeit victory against NYU's Evan Anderson to advance to the consolation semifinals.
- Green would be matched up against Robbie Unruh from Buffalo in the consolation semifinals as Unruh delivered a pin at the 5:44 mark of the bout to secure the victory against Green.
- Selvin Maldonado '25 notched one victory on the day competing at 141 pounds for the Purple & Gold after moving to the consolation bracket following a loss in the championship second round. Maldonado would be matched up against Naman Bhasin from Hunter in the consolation third round after receiving a bye.
- In the consolation bout, Maldonado recorded a 21-3 tech fall against Bhasin to advance to the fourth round of the consolation bracket. Matt Ash would record a 17-1 tech fall against Maldonado in the round to bring his tournament run to an end.
