Berry, Ellis, and Moreno Record Victories for Men’s Wrestling at Ithaca Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Elmira College men's wrestling program opened its season on Friday at the Ithaca College Invitational as Kaiden Ellis '28, Hollis Berry '25, and Kevin Moreno '28 each recorded individual victories for the Soaring Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Competing in his first collegiate open for the Soaring Eagles at 157 pounds, Kaiden Ellis '28 notched an opening-round fall against Castleton's Justyce Mercado in four minutes and 46 seconds. Ellis would drop his second-round match via a tech fall before dropping a consolation bout.
  • Hollis Berry '25 received a first-round bye for the Soaring Eagles at 165 pounds before dropping a 20-5 tech fall in the second round. Berry recorded a consolation third-round victory via a medical forfeit before being pinned in the fourth round.
  • Kevin Moreno '28 made his debut for Elmira at 174 pounds and opened the tournament with a 9-8 decision over Patrick David from Oswego State. Moreno would be pinned in his second-round match and again in his consolation bout.
