ELMIRA, N.Y. – The 2024 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Elmira College Men's Soccer forwards Pietro Gallina '26 and Valentino Aguilera '27 have been named to the 2024 CSC Academic All-District men's soccer team.
Gallina, a native of Rome, Italy, started in 19 of the Soaring Eagles' 20 matches this fall and was very productive. The forward found the back of the net five times while setting up three other goals. The forward registered 24 shots on goal and converted on his only penalty kick attempt of the season.
Aguilera, who hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina, also started in 19 of 20 matches for the Soaring Eagles. He scored twice and collected one assist in his sophomore season for the Purple & Gold while leading all field players in minutes with 1,560.
Gallina and Aguilera have played significant roles in the Soaring Eagles' success on the field in the last two seasons. In 2023-24, they helped secure an Empire 8 Conference Championship for the second time in program history and the first since 2000.
This year, after a rocky start to the season, Gallina and Aguilera's experience provided a calming influence as the Soaring Eagles steadied the ship and rode the momentum they gained late in the season back to the Empire 8 Championship Game as the seventh seed of eight, before falling to St. John Fisher 2-0.
Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. The first, second, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All- America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
