PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – In a battle of two nationally ranked programs, the Elmira College women's ice hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision in a non-conference matchup against the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons on Tuesday at the Murray Athletic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- There would be no scoring in the first period of action as Elmira held a slim 12-10 advantage in shots on goal. MK Boyle '26 recorded three of Elmira's shots in the opening 20 minutes, while Gaby Matson '28 notched two.
- Cortland opened the scoring at the 4:31 mark of the second period as Katie Mahoney found the back of the net for the Red Dragons. Cortland would get a pair of power-play opportunities in the period as Elmira successfully killed both to keep the score 1-0.
- Elmira had a pair of its own power-play chances in the third period as the Soaring Eagles were denied both times by the Red Dragons. Cortland added to its lead at the 11:51 mark with a goal from Grace Karakas to make it 2-0.
- The Red Dragons closed the scoring with an empty net goal at the 19:46 mark to secure the 3-0 victory.
- Elmira goalkeeper Leonie-Louise Kuehberger '25 made 33 saves on 35 shots faced, while Cortland's Molly Goergen stopped all 34 shots that she faced.
- Emily Lenzen '24 skated in her 100th collegiate game, as Tuesday's contest was her 41st wearing Purple & Gold.
