HOUGHTON, N.Y. – In the first-ever meeting between the Soaring Eagles and Saxons on the baseball diamond, Elmira College recorded an 18-2 run-rule victory in seven innings against Alfred University on Monday night at the Kerr-Pegula Sports Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Jack Finnerty '23 tossed four innings of shutout baseball for the Soaring Eagles as he scattered three hits and four walks while recording 10 strikeouts to improve to 2-0 on the season.
- Brett Warden '25 went 2-for-3 at the plate with four runs scored and one run batted in to go along with a pair of walks.
- Matteo Salvati '25 finished the night with a pair of runs batted in for the Purple & Gold to go along with one hit and three runs scored.
- Kaden Bolt '26, Nick Lees '25, Sean Deaner '26, Nathan Ofalt '26, Xander Canfield '26, and AJ Ramirez '27 each added one RBI in the contest for the Soaring Eagles.
- Matthew Schultz '26 worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning for the Purple & Gold as he limited the Saxons to a pair of runs after entering the game for Justin Hyde '25.
- Brennan Goin '26 would strike out the side out of the bullpen for Elmira in the sixth inning, while Jack Snowden '27 recorded a pair of strikeouts and a clean bottom of the seventh inning for EC.
- Elmira worked 13 walks at the plate in the contest while tallying six runs off a passed ball/wild pitch. The Soaring Eagles would also take advantage of four errors defensively by the Saxons throughout the contest.
