The following week, Elmira returns to the floor for a midweek meeting at Hilbert (Sept. 26), followed by a tri-match at Pitt-Bradford (Sept. 28) where they will also battle Wilson College for the first time in the 21st century after recording a pair of 3-0 wins over the Phoenix in the 1999 season.
The Empire 8 Athletic Conference schedule begins for the Soaring Eagles on October 2 with a home match against Route 14 rival Keuka College. From there, the Purple & Gold will welcome reigning Empire 8 Champion, Alfred University, to Speidel Gymnasium for a Friday evening matchup on October 10, before returning to the road the following day to take on the Highlanders from Houghton University.
Elmira jumps back into non-conference play on October 8, hosting SUNY Delhi. Last season, Elmira defeated the Broncos 3-2 in a thrilling five set match, which saw Boucher and Morgan Richardson '25 record 16 and 11 kills, respectively. The Empire 8 schedule continues through the remainder of the season for Elmira, beginning with a home match against E8 newcomer, SUNY Geneseo, on October 11, followed by a road match against SUNY Brockport the following day. Elmira last took on the Knights in 2015, and the Golden Eagles in 2018.
Over the next two weekends, Elmira will play four more Empire 8 contests, starting with a road trip to Rochester to take on the Golden Flyers from Nazareth on October 18. The following day, Elmira returns home to take on St. John Fisher at 12:00 PM.
The Soaring Eagles head east the following weekend for a set of road matches at Russell Sage (Oct. 25) and Hartwick (Oct. 26). After dropping last years' matchup to the Gators in five sets, Elmira looks to jump back into the win column, as they picked up a 3-0 win in Albany during the 2022 season.
The regular season concludes for Elmira the following weekend, as they host another Empire 8 newcomer, SUNY Poly, on November 1, followed by Utica the following day (Nov. 2). The Wildcats serve as a familiar opponent for EC the past two seasons, having picked up back-to-back 3-0 victories over the opposition. As for the Pioneers, Elmira looks to avenge last seasons' loss on the road, having won 30 of the last 32 meetings against Utica.
