UTICA, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's volleyball team hit the road for a tough Empire 8 matchup, where the Soaring Eagles managed to steal a set from the Wildcats. However, it was ultimately not enough as they dropped the contest 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After dropping the first set, Elmira responded with a dominant second frame. After falling just short 27-25 in set one, the Soaring Eagles dominated the Wildcats 25-19 in the second set.
- Erin Bracken '28 led the Elmira attack with 10 kills and 14 assists followed by Morgan Sica '28 with eight kills to rally the Soaring Eagles to their lone set win of the evening. Bracken also tallied three service aces while Gabriela Rodriguez '25, Alyson Hagberg '25, and Vicki Titus '28 tallied one apiece.
- The final two sets of the evening saw the Soaring Eagles battle until the very end, posting scores of 26-24 in both sets. The Wildcats narrowly edged their way out of the match, led by kill leaders Daniella Aluisio (14) and Kassity Cruz (11).
- Defensively, Rodriguez anchored the back row with a team-high 21 digs rounded out by Hagberg with 11 digs.
- Elmira finished the match with 39 kills, 36 assists, and 60 digs as a team.
UP NEXT: The Soaring Eagles will conclude the regular season tomorrow afternoon on the road against Empire 8 member, Utica. The match is set to start at 1:00 PM.
