Beavers Use Big Final Frame to Beat Soaring Eagles

PINE VALLEY, NY – The Elmira College Soaring Eagles were back on home ice for Friday night's tilt with the Beavers of Babson. The Purple & Gold ended up on the wrong end of a 3-2 final in the first of back-to-back games this weekend.

JUST THE BASICS:
SCORE: Elmira 2, Babson 3
LOCATION: Pine Valley, NY | Murray Athletic Center
TEAM RECORDS: Elmira (9-5-2, 6-4-1 NEHC), Babson (10-7-1, 8-5-0 NEHC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Nathan Young '25 continued his career year with a goal just 34 seconds into the game. Young's goal was assisted by Ryan Reifler '24. Reifler now has 5 assists in his last two games.

In the middle of the period, Cole Tucker '25 took a feed from Kenny Maxwell '27 and wired it past Mason Rosado for his fifth goal of the year, making it 2-0 Soaring Eagles. Maxwell stripped a Beaver defender at the blue line, spun around, and found Tucker before Babson's defense could even react.

The score stayed 2-0 until just over midway through the final period when Johnny McElaney got a shot by Brody Haynes '26.

A minute later, the score was evened up after a point from a Beaver defender took a bounce off a Soaring Eagle and wound up in the net.

With 3:49 remaining, the Beavers went ahead 3-2 by way of a Brendan Kennedy goal.

Haynes finished with 27 saves on 30 shots in net while Rosado turned away 22 at the other end.

UP NEXT:
The Soaring Eagles finish the weekend with another contest versus the Beavers, tomorrow, Jan. 25. Opening puck drop is slated for 4:00 PM.
