HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's soccer team wrapped up its 2025 campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 setback on the road at Houghton University on Wednesday afternoon at Burke Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the contest remained tightly contested deep into the second half before Houghton broke through in the 81st minute. The Highlanders' Elena Esh netted the game's lone goal off a setup from Gracelyn Williams, proving to be the difference in the Empire 8 matchup.

Elmira's defensive unit turned in another gritty effort, limiting Houghton to just one goal despite being outshot 12-5. The Soaring Eagles received quality minutes from a trio of goalkeepers. Sarah Cantrell '29 made three saves over 38 minutes of action, while Scarlett Cobos '29 and Emma Whalen '26 combined for 48:21 minutes of shutout work between them.

Offensively, Faith Ingber '26 led the Elmira attack with three shots, including two on goal, while Emily Andersen '26 added another attempt that narrowly missed high off a corner in the second half.
