Erika Goleniak Named Laura Hurd Award Finalist

ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced its finalists for the Laura Hurd Award on Tuesday afternoon, with Erika Goleniak '25 being named to the list.

A native of Canton, Michigan, Goleniak was named the 2024-25 New England Hockey Conference Player of the Year and was named to her second All-NEHC First Team. She paced Elmira during the regular season in goals, assists, points, and power-play goals. Goleniak is the second Elmira player to be named NEHC Player of the Year after Eliza Beaudin '22 took home the award following the 2021-22 season.

Goleniak currently ranks eighth nationally in Division III with 39 points and ninth in points per game at 1.34. Earlier this season, Goleniak skated in her 100th career game for Elmira and joined the 100-point club as the 19th member for the Soaring Eagles.

Goleniak ranks fifth among all active NCAA DIII players with 121 career points, 73 assists, and 0.62 assists per game through 119 games played for the Purple & Gold.

Sponsored by the American Hockey Coaches Association, the Hurd Award honors the memory of former Elmira College standout Laura Hurd. A 2005 graduate of Elmira, and a four-time All-American, Hurd died in an automobile accident shortly after graduation. She was the recipient of the AHCA Player of the Year Award in 2005.

The recipient of this year's Hurd Award will be announced on Thursday, March 27, at the NCAA Frozen Four in River Falls, Wisconsin.
