Soaring Eagles Use 13 Unanswered Runs to Complete Sweep of Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Elmira would score 13 unanswered runs after trailing 2-0 early in the contest, as the Soaring Eagles recorded a 13-5 victory in six innings against the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles on Monday. The game was resumed in the third inning after it was suspended on March 29 due to unsafe playing conditions related to the weather.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Brockport opened the scoring in the contest with a run in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead against the Soaring Eagles.
  • Elmira responded with a seven-run top of the third inning, as Brianna Ramstine highlighted the frame for the Soaring Eagles with a two-run home run, her fourth of the season.
  • Jocelyn Jean would give Elmira an 8-2 lead in the fifth inning with a single to right field, which allowed Sophia Temple to score.
  • Ramstine added an RBI double in the sixth inning to make it 9-2, while Jean closed the scoring in the frame for the Purple & Gold with an RBI single to make it 13-2.
  • Brockport scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to trim the deficit to 13-5. The Golden Eagles would strand a pair of runners on base as a fly-out to left field would end the game.
  • Hanna Burdick picked up her first collegiate win in the circle for the Soaring Eagles. Burdick went 4.1 innings for EC while scattering seven hits and allowing two runs (one earned) to go along with one strikeout.
  • Madison Lodowski closed the game for Elmira, as she allowed four hits and three unearned runs through 1.2 innings.
  • Temple paced Elmira at the plate with three hits, while Ramstine and Jean combined for six RBI in the contest for the Soaring Eagles. Ashlyn VanFleet also recorded an RBI double for Elmira in the third inning.
