Soaring Eagles Battle Alfred State Under the Lights on Wednesday

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College men's lacrosse program returned to action on Wednesday night, as the Soaring Eagles hosted the Alfred State College Pioneers under the lights at Campus Field. The Pioneers would come away with the 22-6 victory after scoring nine goals in the third quarter.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Alfred State would score five unanswered goals to open the contest before the Soaring Eagles would get a goal from Corbin Melie with 1:16 left in the first quarter to make it 5-1. Melie would notch his second of the contest with 13:44 remaining in the second quarter to trim the deficit to 6-2.
  • Brody Haynes pulled the Soaring Eagles to within 8-3 of the Pioneers with 11:12 remaining of the second quarter. The Pioneers closed the quarter with a pair of goals to take an 11-3 lead into halftime.
  • Melie netted his third goal of the contest for the Soaring Eagles with 14:05 left in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 11-4. Alfred State would then go on an 8-0 run to take a 19-4 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • Elmira opened the scoring in the fourth quarter as Haynes tallied his second goal of the night with 12:35 remaining to make it 19-5. Carter Jock added his first goal of the night for the Purple & Gold with 10:35 remaining in the frame to make it 20-6.
  • Alfred State rounded out the scoring with a pair of goals in the final five minutes to secure the 22-6 victory against the Soaring Eagles.
  • Elmira goalkeeper Isaac Craft recorded 24 saves for the Soaring Eagles and crossed 200 saves for his career. Craft recorded 139 saves in his lone season playing after Wells College and has recorded 63 saves through four games with Elmira.
