PINE VALLEY, N.Y. - The Elmira College men's hockey team returned to the Murray Athletic Center for a rematch of yesterday's contest with the Nazareth University Golden Flyers, where the Soaring Eagles battled to a 2–2 tie before winning the shootout. Elmira was unable to complete the sweep, falling 7–3.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Nazareth started the game off hot, spending most of the time in the Elmira zone creating chances before burying a rebound to open the scoring just five minutes in. Two minutes later, they doubled their advantage on a wrist shot by Cameron Bauer. Elmira began to find their legs on their first power play, generating four shots with the man advantage. The Nazareth netminder stood tall, and the Soaring Eagles went into the first intermission trailing by two while outshooting the Golden Flyers, 10–9.
Nazareth scored a power-play goal early in the second period to extend their lead, then followed it up shortly after to make it 4–0. Birch Gorman got the Soaring Eagles on the board with a snipe from the left dot, and Elmira spent the rest of the period creating chances and getting pucks on net but were unable to narrow the lead. They went into the locker room trailing 4–1 despite outshooting their opponents in the second, 17–8.
Nazareth extended their lead back to four with an even-strength goal just three minutes into the final period, but Birch Gorman responded quickly, scoring a minute later to make it 5–2. The Golden Flyers were clinical on the power play, scoring twice over the next ten minutes to take a 7–2 lead. Brock MacDonald's goal with just over thirty seconds left made it a 7–3 final.

The Soaring Eagles will be back at the MAC on Friday, February 6 to face #10 Utica University at 7:00 PM in an Empire 8 contest. They will then travel to Utica the following day for a second game at 7:00 PM.
