PLAY-BY-PLAY
St. John Fisher started the game on the front foot, forcing an early save from Ruiz Martin. Ten minutes in, a Fisher shot rattled off the crossbar before the rebound was headed in to give the Cardinals an early lead. Shortly after, Adam Grover doubled Fisher's advantage, volleying in a cross from Jack Tamburino. The Cardinals continued to apply pressure to the EC backline throughout the half, but the Soaring Eagles entered halftime trailing by just two.
Fisher picked up where it left off to start the second half, finding the back of the net just two minutes in on a counterattack. Tatanashvili pulled one back for EC with 20 minutes remaining, curling a shot into the back of the net. Jose Corporan nearly brought the Soaring Eagles within one, knuckling a free kick on goal and forcing a sprawling save from the Fisher goalkeeper. Elmira continued to press as Adam Tufton sent a shot just over the crossbar with 10 minutes remaining. Ultimately, EC could not overcome the deficit as the Soaring Eagles fell, 3-1.
