PLAY-BY-PLAY
In a scoreless first half, Brockport controlled much of the possession but struggled to find high-danger chances as strong defending from Elmira closed down passing lanes and blocked shots. The Golden Eagles recorded 15 shots to EC's two in the opening 45 minutes, while shots on goal favored Brockport by just 3-1.
The second half followed a similar script, with Brockport controlling possession while the Soaring Eagles looked to strike on the counterattack. Elmira created a few more opportunities after the break, recording seven shots and earning three corner kicks. Ruiz Martin continued to keep the Golden Eagles off the scoreboard, making saves on a pair of Brockport shots in the 58th and 70th minutes.
Brockport broke through with just over five minutes remaining, finishing a chance off a deflection on a long throw-in. The Golden Eagles added a second goal less than two minutes later, finding the back of the net off a free kick to seal a 2-0 decision over Elmira.
