Elmira, N.Y. – Elmira College Athletics is excited to partner with Pietro & Son's to honor the Soaring Eagle Athletes of the Week for the 2026-27 season. Senior Mo McBride and freshmen Lavontae Gibbons pick up the honor this week.

Women's Ice Hockey, Mo McBride
In her senior campaign, McBride scored all six of Elmira's goals in their season openers this past week. In Friday's season opener against SUNY Potsdam, McBride netted all four goals in a 4-1 victory. She followed that performance with another multi-goal outing on Saturday, scoring both goals in Elmira's 2-0 shutout victory over SUNY Canton. McBride finished the weekend with a nation-leading six goals, accounting for all of Elmira's offensive production.

Men's Wrestling, Lavontae Gibbons
In his fresh campaign, Gibbons went 4-0 with three falls in the 141 bout at the Pitt-Bradford Duals to open his career as a Soaring Eagle this past week. In the match against Pitt-Bradford, he picked up his lone forfeit of the day. Against Emmanuel, Gibbons recorded his first collegiate fall in 4:25 while recording his second fall in 1:34 against Kean. In his final match of the day, Gibbons recorded his third fall in 2:04 against Jamestown Community College.
