RYE, N.Y. - The Elmira College women's hockey team faced the Valiants of Manhattanville University in their final game of the UCHC regular season. The Soaring Eagles came out on top as they defeated Manhattanville, 7-0.

It was a strong start for the Soaring Eagles, as Piper Thompson's backhander beat the Manhattanville netminder off a pass from Reagan Lynch to give EC a 1–0 lead ten minutes in. Just two minutes later, Alayna Toole tipped in a nice feed from Abby Eselunas on the power play to double the Soaring Eagles' advantage. Both sides went into the locker room with Elmira leading 2–0 while outshooting their opponents, 13–2.
Just ten seconds into the period, Iliana Smith batted home a rebound to give EC a 3–0 lead. Shortly after, the Valiants had a chance to get back in the game on a power play, but the Elmira penalty kill stood tall, with Olivia Last making two saves and keeping Manhattanville off the board. Eight minutes into the period, Bri Conger's shot from the point deflected into the back of the net as the Soaring Eagles extended their lead to 4–0.
After a couple of strong penalty kills by the Soaring Eagles, Piper Andrews scored off a nice feed from Maura O'Keeffe to make it 5–0. Three minutes later, Smith's wrist shot found the back of the net on the power play. With just ninety seconds left in the game, Anne Lugge's shot from the point beat the Manhattanville netminder on the power play to give EC their final goal, as they defeated the Valiants, 7–0.

The Soaring Eagles will be back at the Murray Athletic Center on Saturday, February 28 as they will face off in the UCHC Semifinals. Puck drop will be announced later this week.
