UTICA, N.Y. – The Elmira College men's lacrosse team traveled to SUNY Polytechnic Institute for a matchup against the Wildcats on Wednesday afternoon. The Soaring Eagles fell to a strong SUNY Poly team, 17–3.

The Wildcats opened the scoring four minutes into the first period and quickly followed with four goals in a five-minute span to take an early 5–0 lead. SUNY Poly maintained the pressure, adding three more goals in the closing minutes of the first to hold an 8–0 advantage after fifteen minutes.
The Soaring Eagles searched for an offensive spark, but the Wildcats' defense rose to the challenge in the second quarter. SUNY Poly found the back of the net midway through the period and added another with just under two minutes remaining to carry a 10–0 lead into halftime.
SUNY Poly netted the first three goals of the third period before Austin Jerzak scored the Soaring Eagles' first goal of the game with a shot from outside on the man advantage. With 20 seconds left in the period, Spencer Barrow found himself alone in front of the net and beat the SUNY Poly goalie for Elmira's second goal, as the Soaring Eagles entered the final period trailing, 13–2.
The Wildcats struck early in the fourth quarter, but Elmira responded immediately as Corbin Melie scored off a nice assist from Jerzak. SUNY Poly added three more goals over the final ten minutes to secure a 17–3 victory.

The Soaring Eagles will return home on Saturday, March 28, at 3:30 p.m. to face Hilbert College as Elmira celebrates Senior Day.
