NEWTON, Mass. – The Elmira College men's volleyball team traveled to face Lasell in a mid-week matchup in Newton, Massachusetts. The Soaring Eagles looked to rally late but fell short, 3-0.

Both teams were seen trading points in the opening set featuring a pair of kills from Luke Jata. A three-point rally saw Lasell break away early with a 10-5 advantage. The Soaring Eagles capitalized on errors from Lasell to cut the deficit to four. A pair of four-point rallies ultimately sealed Elmira's fate, seeing them drop set one 25-16. Gabriel Staron opened set two with a kill to take the early lead. Kills from Jata, Ethan Davenport, and Staron pushed EC ahead 7-3. A four-point rally from Lasell tied the match with Jata retaliating with a kill to hold the lead. A pair of rallies late in the set saw Lasell jump ahead, 16-14. Jata and Staron worked together with a pair of kills to even the match once again at 20 all. Lasell notched a late three-point rally to narrowly secure set two, 25-22.
In set three, Lasell jumped ahead early with seven points of their own. Elmira's Staron notched a pair of kills and took advantage of an error to cut the deficit to four. A five-point rally from Lasell followed by a three-point rally saw them break away late in the set. Elmira looked to respond by capitalizing on errors but ultimately fell short, 25-11.
LEADERS
Jata led the way with 15 kills and four digs. Staron picked up six kills, a pair of aces, and recorded two digs.
Nick Rohman totaled 13 assists.
