ALFRED, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's lacrosse team traveled to Alfred on Friday afternoon to take on the Pioneers of Alfred State College. The Soaring Eagles battled hard but ultimately fell, 17-1.

The Pioneers jumped out to a quick start, scoring just over two minutes into the game before extending their lead to three shortly after. They closed out the first period the way they began it, adding three more goals to hold a 6-0 lead after one while outshooting the Soaring Eagles, 15-1.
Picking up where they left off, the Pioneers scored four quick goals in the first five minutes of the second period. The Soaring Eagles were able to get on the board thanks to Kelsey Stewart's free-position shot, tallying her fifth goal of the season. Alfred State responded well, finding two more goals to take a 12-1 lead into halftime.
In a more defensive third period, the Pioneers notched the only two goals of the frame while winning the shot battle, 5-2, as they went into the final period with a 14-1 advantage. A strong final fifteen minutes from Alfred State saw them add three more goals to secure the 17-1 decision.
