Soaring Eagles Fall in Season Finale Against Russell Sage

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's lacrosse team traveled to Albany, NY. for the season finale and a matchup with the Gators of Russell Sage College on Monday evening. The Soaring Eagles fought hard but dropped the matchup against Russell Sage 15-3.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Gators got the scoring started with a pair of goals in the opening four minutes of the contest. Two minutes later, Kelsey Stewart sent a pass over to Alayna Toole whose shot beat the keeper, getting Elmira on the board and cutting the deficit in half. Three minutes later Mandy McCarrick brought in a pass from Indigo Smallwood and sent a shot past the goalie to even up the contest at two. The Gators answered with three consecutive goals before the conclusion of the first quarter, taking a 5-2 advantage heading into the second quarter. Despite trailing, the Soaring Eagles outshot the Gators 8-7 in the first quarter. 
 
The Gators started the scoring in the second with a tally seven minutes in and followed with another one four minutes later to push themselves in front 7-2. 90 seconds later Kelsey Stewart found the back of the net, picking up an unassisted goal for EC and making the score 7-3. Russell Sage picked up another goal before the end of the first half, taking an 8-3 advantage into halftime. The Gators outshot the Soaring Eagles 12-2 in the second quarter. Russell Sage tallied two more goals in the third quarter, to push the advantage to 10-3. The Gators added five more goals in the final quarter to push themselves in front 15-3. Time would run out on Elmira, the Soaring Eagles falling in this one 15-3. 
 
LEADERS
Offensively, Stewart led the way, tallying one goal and one assist. Toole picked up a goal in this one and McCarrick notched a goal of her own. Smallwood added one assist to her total.
