ELMIRA, N.Y. – Elmira College Director of Athletics, Rhonda Faunce, has announced the promotion of Spencer Passmore as the next Head Men's Lacrosse Coach. Passmore played a vital role in the men's lacrosse program last season as Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the Soaring Eagles. Former Head Coach Pat Sullivan has stepped down due to personal reasons.
"I am honored to be promoted as Head Coach of Elmira College Men's Lacrosse" adds Coach Passmore. "I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this program and join the Empire 8 for the 2027 season!"
During the 2026 season,
Austin Jerzak '29 set the Elmira College single-season faceoff percentage record under Passmore's guidance, finishing with a .704 win rate. Passmore also helped lead the Soaring Eagles to their first victories since the reinstatement of the men's lacrosse program, earning wins over SUNY Cobleskill and Hilbert College.
This summer, Coach Passmore will be coaching in the Gaffer League. Passmore will head up the Gaffer Elite 2027 Lacrosse Team, competing in three different tournaments. Gaffer Elite is a travel lacrosse program that is dedicated to developing high-level prospects and preparing them to compete and succeed at the next level.
"Coaching Gaffer gives me the chance to build direct relationships with prospective college athletes and give them a firsthand look at my coaching style and what Elmira Lacrosse is all about," Coach Passmore adds.
"Throughout his time at Elmira, Spencer has proven himself to be a dedicated leader, an outstanding recruiter, and a passionate advocate for our student-athletes," Athletic Director Faunce adds. "His impact on the development of our program was evident during his first season, and we are confident that he is the right person to lead Elmira men's lacrosse into its next chapter. We are thrilled to have Spencer at the helm as we continue to grow and compete within the Empire 8 Conference."
Passmore, a native of Corning, New York, brings experience as a Division I player at Hobart College under Head Coach Greg Raymond. Coached by Chris Hogue at Corning Painted-Post, Passmore was a three-year varsity letter winner, while earning The Corning Leader Player of the Year in 2014 as a senior. During his final two seasons with the Hawks, Passmore produced 125 points and was a three-year member of the Nike Upstate Rising team.
