Elmira, N.Y. – Elmira College Director of Athletics Rhonda Faunce has announced the hiring of Lauryn Engle as the new Assistant Sports Information Director. Engle brings experience in athletic communications, game-day operations, graphic design, social media, event management, and student-athlete development to the Soaring Eagles' athletics department.

"I am excited to join the Elmira Athletics staff and begin a new chapter of my career!" Engle said. "I look forward to working with all the athletics programs and elevating the student-athlete experience. Thank you to everyone that has supported and encourage me in my career!"

Engle joins Elmira College after serving as an Assistant Sports Information Director and Event Manager at Alfred State College since August 2024. In that role, she has been responsible for designing social media graphics and visual content across athletic platforms. 

"I am excited to welcome Lauryn to our staff and have a full department heading into the 2026-27 school year!" Sports Information Director, Briley Lawson, contributes. "Lauryn has been well-prepared and equipped by her experience at Alfred State. Her knowledge, creativity, and passion for athletics will help us continue to elevate the student-athlete experience!" 

She has also coordinated communication with staff, officials, and visiting teams, managed event setup and tear down for home competitions, and produced game documentation, including statistics, calls, recap stories, and event programs. She brings experience in training and mentoring student staff on game-day protocols and responsibilities while helping create a positive and professional environment for visiting teams and officials.

Alongside her sports information responsibilities at Alfred State, Engle has served as an Assistant Softball Coach since August 2024. In that position, she has assisted with practice planning and daily training, provided individualized instruction to catchers and hitters, helped develop practice groups based on specific skills, and contributed to in-game strategic decision-making. Her coaching experience complemented her work in athletic communications, giving her an understanding of the student-athlete experience and the day-to-day operations of a collegiate athletics department.

A graduate of Alfred State College, Engle earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2024. With a background as an athlete herself, Engle understands the importance of creating meaningful experiences for student-athletes while effectively telling the stories of collegiate athletics. Her combination of experience will support the continued growth of the Elmira College athletics department and its Soaring Eagles programs.
