Elmira, N.Y. – The Elmira women's volleyball team secured its first season with a 3-0 sweep over the Penn College Wildcats (25-19, 25-16, 25-22). With conference play approaching, the Soaring Eagles will look to build on the momentum from the victory.

With 11 kills and six digs on the night,
Averleigh McFarlan led EC on the court.
Ellora Bynoe also recorded six kills, eight digs and four aces while
Morgan Sica added five of her own.
Aimee Bridges chipped in five kills and two blocks, while
Zoie Karcz delivered five aces and 10 assists.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Elmira got off to a quick start in set one as McFarlan opened the scoring with a kill. After Penn College briefly took the lead, the Soaring Eagles responded with a eight-point run that included kills from Bridges and Sica, as well as a pair of aces from Karcz (10-2). McFarlan and Bynoe continued to pressure the Wildcats defense as Elmira built an 18-12 advantage. Penn College battled back to cut the deficit to 20-19, but the Soaring Eagles answered with a late five-point run. Bridges and Sica each added a kill during the stretch before McFarlan closed out the set with a service ace to secure set one 25-19.
EC carried their momentum into set two, opening with a 2-0 lead behind a Bynoe ace. Bridges followed with a kill and
Vicki Titus ace as Elmira extended its advantage to 5-2. Bynoe and McFarlan recorded a kill and ace respectively with two Wildcat errors, pushing their lead to 10-3. Penn College manages to trim the deficit, but the Soaring Eagles responded with a six-point run that featured an ace from Bynoe and kills from
Madalyn Devonshire and McFarlan (19-12). Sica finished the set with a huge kill before
Neeva Enigk served an ace to seal the 25-16 win, putting Elmira one set away from the sweep.
To open set three, McFarlan again got Elmira on the board with a kill before Devonshire sparked a five-point run with a kill and two aces from Karcz. After the Wildcats battled back to tie the set at 7-7, Bridges and Bynoe helped the Soaring Eagles regain the advantage. Elmira then used a four-point stretch, highlighted by two Bynoe aces and a McFarlan kill to take a 16-11 lead. Penn College continued to fight, cutting the deficit to 23-20 before Bynoe recorded a kill to bring the Soaring Eagles to match point. The Wildcats answered with two straight points, but Bynoe finished the match with a kill to give Elmira the 25-22 set-three victory and a complete sweep.
