Elmira, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's soccer team battled from behind in an Empire 8 matchup at Campus Field on Saturday afternoon. Brook Wilcox netted both equalizers for the Soaring Eagles, resulting in a 2-2 draw against the Highlanders.

Sarah Cantrell recorded six saves.

Houghton applied pressure early, but Cantrell made a save in the opening 10 minutes to keep the Highlanders off the scoreboard. Elmira earned its first corner kick at 6:18, and Thomas followed with a shot on goal that was saved. Houghton eventually broke through in the 17th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Soaring Eagles continued to look for an equalizer, with Krawczyk sending a shot just wide off a free kick in the 18th minute and Wilcox forcing a save in the '35. Cantrell added two more saves later in the half as the Highlanders carried a 1-0 advantage into the break.
Elmira came out with increased pressure after halftime and found the equalizer in the 58th minute. Chunco set up Wilcox after splitting through defenders, who finished the opportunity to bring the match level at 1-1. Drake followed with a shot on target in the 62nd minute, but the Highlanders regained the lead in the '67. Elmira responded once again, as Wilcox scored her second goal of the afternoon at 73:53 to tie the match at 2-2. The Soaring Eagles continued to push for a late winner, earning corner kicks at 74:54 and 83:25 while Cruz added a shot in the 76th minute. Cantrell came up with two more saves in the final minutes to preserve the draw (2-2).

The Soaring Eagles remain at home Wednesday, September 30, when they welcome St. John Fisher University to Campus Field for another E8 showdown. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
