2012-13 Season
In his final stint with the Purple and Gold Darren made 14 starts recording over 650 minutes of playing time. He registered 360 saves ending with a save percentage of .872 and goals against average of 4.70. His best game of the season came on Feb. 12th against Manhattanville College where he recorded 41 saves. He will finish his four year career ranked in the top 10 of almost every EC goaltender category. He ranks ninth in history for minutes played (3,510), career wins (34), shots faced (1,775) and career saves (1,602). He will rank tied in fifth for career GAA (2.96) and career shutouts (4), while ranking fourth for career save percentage (.903). 

2011-12 Season
Appeared in 21 games during his third year for EC spending over 1,200 minutes between the pipes. MacDonald made 504 saves giving him a save percentage of .887 and finished the year with an 11-8-2 record. Was named AHCA Third Team All-American, First Team All-ECAC West recipient and a member of the ECAC All-Academic Team. Was named ECAC Goalie of the Week on Nov. 27^th.
 
2010-11 Season
Appeared in 24 games in his second season, playing between the pipes for over 1,400 minutes. MacDonald finished the season with an impressive 16-3-4 overall record this season, which is the most wins an EC goalie has had since the 2007-08 season. The Ontario net-minder ranked in the top 10 on the national level in four major goalie statistical categories. He finished the season ranking third in save percentage (.930), fifth in shutouts (3), seventh in win percentage (.783), and ninth in GAA (2.16). MacDonald’s efforts in net this season place him amongst EC greats with his save percentage being the best percentage in EC history, his three shutouts is tied for second most in a single season, and his GAA ranks third on EC’s All-Time single season list. He was named to the AHCA Division III All-American Second Team.

2009-10 Season
Appeared in three games in his rookie season, recording 179 minutes, making 56 saves, and allowing only five goals for the Soaring Eagles.
