In accordance with the announcement made by New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo on Tuesday, March 30, Elmira College will allow spectators at its home athletics events effective Friday, April 2.
Who is allowed to attend athletics contests?
- Students of the host institution
- Parent(s)/Guardian(s)/Relatives of host institution participating student-athletes
- Faculty/Staff/Administrators of host institution
- For UCHC postseason games, visiting teams are permitted to have guests that meet the criteria listed in numbers 1-3 above.
Each Elmira College student-athlete will be permitted to have a maximum of two spectators attend home athletics contests. The names of those attendees must be supplied to the College’s administration 24 hours prior to the contest.
Pre-game protocols for entering athletics venues
- All spectators must check-in at the designated location no earlier than 30 minutes prior to game time.
- If a spectator is not on the pre-determined list provided by the team, they will not be allowed into the facility.
- Upon arrival, spectators must complete a temperature check and a COVID-19 screening.
- Guest passes with lanyards will be distributed to all verified attendees and they must be visible at all times.
- Spectators must follow signage that will designate where they are allowed to sit and stand.
Post-game protocols
- All spectators must exit the venue immediately following the completion of the contest.
- Spectators will not be permitted access to the playing surface or have contact with student-athletes within the competition venue.
- No re-entry permitted.
- Tailgating is not permitted.
- Eating is not allowed within the venue; drinks are permissible, but face coverings must be worn when finished.
- Guest passes must be returned prior to departure from the venue. Passes will be sanitized once collected.
COVID-19 Safety Protocols
- All spectators are required to have proper face coverings at all times for all sporting events, including outdoor events.
- All spectators are required to socially distance.
- Tailgating is prohibited.
- Designated restrooms will be available.
- There will be no distribution of any game day materials such as programs or souvenirs.
Spectators must follow all guidelines set forth by the New York State Department of Health, Chemung County Department of Health, and Elmira College’s COVID-19 protocols at all times. The more stringent guidelines will take precedent.
