Chris Karam joined the Elmira College baseball program as the Pitching Coach in 2016. He was a part of the 2017 coaching staff that was named the Empire 8 Conference Coaching Staff of the Year, after qualifying for the E8 Tournament as the third seed.
In his first year in 2016, the EC pitching staff lowered its ERA by over two runs from the team's inaugural season in 2015. Additionally, the staff improved in virtually every statistical category compared to the prior season.
“Coach K” has helped the Soaring Eagles collect six Empire 8 Conference Pitcher of the Week awards, in addition to multiple E8 All-Conference accolades, including 2016 E8 All-Conference Second Team honoree, Nick Sampogna '18, and 2018 Honorable Mention reliever, Andy Reed '19. He also helped mentor four-time E8 All-Conference utility man, Conor Bawiec '18, who graduated as Elmira's all-time leader in ERA, wins, strikeouts, and innings pitched.
Karam, a cancer survivor, is the VP of Fagan Engineers in Elmira and is a City Councilman in Corning, New York, where he resides with his wife, Kim. His son, Chris, is a member of the Hilbert College baseball program.
