Callie Black ’05 enters in her second year as a volunteer assistant coach for the Elmira College field hockey team during the 2018 season.

Black is no stranger to Elmira, as she competed in both field hockey and softball during her four years as a Soaring Eagle. She graduated in 2005 as one of the most decorated players in the history of the field hockey program and still holds the all-time records for career points (83) and goals (41). She was named to the Empire 8 All-Conference First Team three times and was part of the winningest class in EC history.

A teacher at nearby Thomas A. Edison High School, Black also has an extensive coaching background with the Purple and Gold. She earned her master’s degree in General Education while serving as an assistant coach for the softball team from 2005-07, was the first-ever head coach for the EC women’s cross country team from 2014-2016, and helped re-introduce men’s cross country as a varsity sport at Elmira as head coach from 2015-16.
