Janie Kempf ’21 enters her third season as an Assistant Coach for the Elmira College field hockey team during the 2023-24 academic year.

Kempf returns to her alma mater as a coach after playing field hockey and softball for the Soaring Eagles. The New Woodstock, New York, native, was a four-year member of the field hockey program and garnered Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Academic Squad honors each year.

She was named to the 2019 Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year Team while also making the Empire 8 President's List (Spring 2018, Spring 2019, Fall 2019, Spring 2020).

Kempf appeared in 50 games for the Soaring Eagles and finished the 2019 season with a career-best 24 points (10 G, 4 A). She closed her career at Elmira with 24 goals, seven assists, and 55 points.

Kempf graduated from Elmira in the spring of 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. Along with her coaching duties, Kempf also serves as the Creative Content Coordinator for Elmira's Office of Communications & Marketing.
