Bre Simon

Bre Simon enters her second season as an Assistant Coach with the women's ice hockey program during the 2023-24 season after joining the Soaring Eagles in September 2022. Prior to her time at Elmira, Simon served on the coaching staff at Gentry High School in Minnesota.

During her first season with the Purple & Gold, the Soaring Eagles would post a perfect 17-0-0 record in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) play. Elmira would qualify for the NEHC finals before falling to Norwich in the championship bout. The Soaring Eagles placed 17 on the NEHC All-Academic list during the 2022-23 season, with five earning Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators (CSC). On the ice, the Soaring Eagles had nine earn NEHC All-Conference honors, while Emma Bradbury '25 earned Conference Rookie of the Year.

Simon comes to Elmira after a distinguished playing career at Division III Hamline University from 2016-20 which included winning the Laura Hurd Award (Division III Player of the Year) in 2019 as the Pipers advanced to the National Championship game.

A three-time CCM/AHCA West First Team All-American, Simon left Hamline as the program’s all-time leader in both goals (92) and assists (93) in 112 games for an average of 1.65 points per contest. Her 31 goals during the 2017-18 season, along with 64 points (2018-19) are both Piper program records.

While playing under former Elmira Head Coach Jake Bobrowski, who was an assistant coach during Simon’s four years at Hamline, the Pipers put together a 75-26-11 record, which included a 63-13-10 record over her final three seasons. With four career hat tricks, Simon’s 195 career points are more than double than any other player to wear the Burgundy and Gray.

Her 31-goal season in 2017-18 saw the Pipers add ten wins to its record from the season prior.
