Former Buffalo State women’s ice hockey star, Erin Gehen, enters her sixth season as a volunteer assistant coach at Elmira College in 2023-24, along with her third year as the Associate Director of Athletics.

Gehen graduated from Buff State in 2018 as one of the most decorated players in program history. She ranks first all-time in career points (95), goals (54) and assists (41), and is tied with classmate Brooke Krantz for the team record in games played (104). She earned all-conference honors in each of her last three seasons, two as a member of the former ECAC West and one in the Northeast Women’s Hockey League (NEWHL). She also received State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) All-Academic Team honors every year.

A former team captain, Gehen was part of the most successful class in Buffalo State women’s ice hockey history. The Bengals qualified for postseason play in each of her four years on the team, including runs to the ECAC West and NEWHL semifinals during her junior and senior campaigns.

Gehen's playing career continued in the Queen City with the Buffalo Beauts of the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL). During her first professional season in 2019-20, she finished fourth on the team in points with 16 (7g-9a).

A West Seneca, New York, native, Gehen earned a degree in Business Administration during her time at Buffalo State.
