Alexander Walsh joined the Elmira College women's soccer program as an assistant coach in 2026, bringing nine years of successful coaching experience and a proven track record of developing championship-caliber student-athletes.
Prior to Elmira, Walsh served as the head boys varsity soccer coach at Seton Catholic Central High School in Binghamton, New York, where he led the Saints to two NYSPHSAA Section IV championships (2023, 2025), two regional championships (2023, 2025), a New York State Class C runner-up finish in 2023, and a state semifinal appearance in 2025. His teams qualified for the Section IV playoffs in five of his last six seasons while building a culture centered on accountability, leadership, and competitive excellence.
Outside of coaching, Walsh serves as a Health Teacher (LTS) at Ernie Davis Academy in the Elmira City School District. Previously, he taught physical education and health at Seton Catholic Central while also coaching basketball and lacrosse. His coaching philosophy emphasizes technical development, tactical awareness, leadership, and fostering a positive team culture. He also has experience in player evaluation, recruiting, and video analysis using Hudl and NFHS platforms and holds the U.S. Soccer 11v11 Grassroots Coaching License.
Walsh has established a strong record of player development, coaching 14 All-Division selections, nine All-Conference honorees, and one New York State All-State player. He has also mentored student-athletes who have gone on to compete at both the NCAA Division I and Division III levels, reflecting his commitment to preparing players for success at the collegiate level.
Walsh earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland after completing an Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice at SUNY Broome Community College. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Sports Coaching at West Virginia University and is expected to graduate December 2026.
