Collin Hetherington enters his fifth year with Elmira College, and his second as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance & Communications. During his time at EC, he spent the first three and a half years as the Director of Sports Information, before being named Assistant Athletic Director in 2024-25. Hetherington came to EC after spending two years (2019-21) as an Assistant Director at the University of Charleston, a Division II institution in Charleston, West Virginia.

During his time at EC, Hetherington has highlighted a pair of National Championships courtesy of the cheerleading team at the 2022 & 2025 NCA College Nationals, a 2024 national runner-up finish by the women’s hockey team, the first Empire 8 Conference Championship in program history for the men’s soccer team, and several NCAA Division III Tournament appearances for the Soaring Eagles.

Additionally, Hetherington has led a communications department which has generated over 5.4 million Facebook impressions since August of 2022, while successfully implementing graphic design and video content for Elmira College’s video boards located within Speidel Gymnasium and the Murray Athletic Center. A six-year member of College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as CoSIDA, Hetherington and his communications staff has successfully nominated three Academic All-Americans, and 22 All-District honorees at Elmira. 

Outside of his athletic communications responsibilities, Hetherington serves Elmira College as an adjunct professor in the business department, lecturing Sport Management classes throughout the academic year.

With at Charleston (WV), Hetherington served as the primary media relations contact for a handful of Charleston's 18 varsity teams. His duties included graphic design projects, social media and website management, as well as gameday operations. During his two years in the Mountain State, he successfully nominated four CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, constructed history and record books for each team, assisted with rebranding Charleston's athletics website, www.ucgoldeneagles.com, and served as the Assistant SID for the 2019 NCAA Division II National Champion Men's Soccer team. In just two years at Charleston, Hetherington helped coordinate four NCAA Atlantic Regionals, hosted by UC (Men's Soccer, Baseball, Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis). 
 
Before his time in Charleston, Hetherington spent two seasons as a media relations intern for the Rochester Red Wings, the former Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. With the Wings, Hetherington assisted in the production of team publications, served as a field timing coordinator, TrackMan operator, and a live stats contact for MiLB. His professional baseball experience also includes a summer in Houston, Texas, as a group and sponsorship sales intern with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League in 2017. While there, Hetherington was also responsible for in-game tasks, including the live stream of home games on YouTube, the coordination of group outings, and acted as a facilitator for the 2017 Southland Conference Baseball Tournament.
 
In addition, Hetherington spent time with the Rochester Knighthawks of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) during the 2016-17 season and volunteered at Buffalo Bills training camp during the summer of 2016.
  
Originally from Lee Center, New York, Hetherington is a 2019 graduate of fellow Empire 8 Conference member St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York, where he earned degrees in both Sport Management and Economics. He co-founded the St. John Fisher's first National Club Baseball Association (NCBA) affiliated team, serving as the head coach, vice president, and finance director for the club from 2016-19. Hetherington graduated with a Master's of Science in Strategic Leadership from the University of Charleston (WV) in December 2020.
